How We Tailor Product Transfer Through A Facility
As a custom designer and builder of automation equipment, ABCO offers specialty conveyor systems to suit unique product traits and distinctive application requirements. Adhering to ABCO’s high quality standards, our custom conveyors use first-rate materials, such as stainless steel for the frames, and most parts are manufactured in ABCO’s in-house fabrication and machine shop. While our Stingray, Hedgehog, and Swan conveyors are built to order, they are also cost-effective, pre-engineered, and available on a quick-ship basis.
Stingray is a robust, low-profile modular belt conveyor that uses micropitch plastic belts. Just as its name suggests, Stingray is powerful, yet gentle. This heavy-duty stainless-steel conveyor provides extremely reliable product transfer, smooth transitions, and product accumulation, making it ideal for delicate, small footprint, or unstable products that may be easily damaged by a conventional conveyor. Stingray delivers nose roller transfers as tight as 0.90″, which allows smooth transitions from one belt to another and with almost no vibration, the conveyor can handle the most fragile items. In addition, the durable plastic belting helps prevent chips, scuffs, and scratches on products, and the belt's open-hinge design makes it suitable for applications that require sanitation.
Hedgehog is a durable tabletop conveyor that integrates vertical support posts for controlled cooling of parts. For those applications that require a part post-process cool down, we bolt Delrin®non-marring support posts with PVC caps on the face of the conveyor material. Each post is strategically positioned to accommodate the part’s individual size and shape. The support posts allow the part to cool properly without resting directly on the conveyor belt. Hedgehog is driven by a variable speed motor and gear reducer, which is ideal for modifying the stipulated conveyor speed. Hedgehog is available with different widths and lengths, and it easily interfaces with existing conveyor systems.
ABCO's Swan is a puck conveyor that employs pucks or carriers for stabilizing product on a conveyor line. Swan is well suited for handling volatile or irregularly-shaped products. With ABCO’s puck conveyor, individual product is placed, via robotic pick and place or with other methods such as a hydraulic cylinder, on the carrier where the product travels to its final finishing destination. There are many advantages to using a puck conveyor including: more efficient operations, safeguarded product, reduced waste, and nominal production line clean up.
