         Current Opportunities.  We are currently seeking qualified individuals as candidates for employment in the following positions:
 

       Machinist: Position available on 2nd shift.  Responsibilities include working from complex blue prints and perform the machining operations to manufacture the part to print.  Utilizes a broad knowledge of machine shop practices such as programming, set-up and tool selection to accomplish tasks.  Recommends improvements in designs and procedures to minimize cost and produce a quality product.  Qualified candidates should have a minimum of three (3) years of related experience.

       Mechanical Assembler: Responsibilities include performing a wide range of mechanical assembly operations to assist with the assembling, set-up and adjustment of build-to-print assemblies.  Candidates will work from a wide range of blue prints, assembly layouts, engineering schematics and sketches and should be able to use shop equipment and hand held tools to complete orders. 

       Mechanical Engineer Team Leader: Responsibilities include selecting, developing, training and supervising the work of engineers.  Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet completion dates while assisting in the reduction of lead times to provide competitive advantage.  Provides technical leadership for teams of engineers assigned to highly complex or large-scale projects.  Provides complete mechanical designs to support project work.  Manages the mechanical scope of project work which includes mechanical engineering, drafting, manufacturing, assembly and testing.  Maintains, supports and develops customer and vendor relations.  Performs sales activities including initial customer meetings, design conceptualization, cost estimating and quote generation.  Minimum of seven years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in the field of custom automation.

       Metal Fabricator: Responsibilities include TIG, MIG and stick welding of carbon and stainless steel, complex layout work, finish grinding/polishing and pipefitting, ability to read and understand mechanical drawings/blueprints and generate cut lists.  Recommends improvements in designs and procedures to minimize cost and produce a quality product.  Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 5 years experience in close tolerance metal fabrication and tool and equipment usage.

Medical and Dental Insurance -  The medical plan is a managed care plan provided through Blue Cross / Blue Shield of NC. The dental plan provides reimbursement for preventative, basic and major services. An employee has the choice of employee only or family coverage.
 

Life / AD&D & STD/LTD Insurance & Dependent Life Insurance -  Short-term and long-term disability insurance provides 60% of salary to a maximum benefit. Employees can purchase supplemental life insurance for themselves and / or spouse and dependants.

401(K) Plan -  Employees may contribute to the 401(K) plan on a tax-deferred basis at the first of the month following sixty days of service. After one year of service, ABCO provides a matching contribution. Employees direct their own investments and can choose from a variety of investment opportunities.

Employee Stock Ownership Plan -  This qualified plan is designed to transfer ownership of ABCO to employees over time. Discretionary contributions of company stock and / or cash are made into employee accounts annually (typically a percentage of company profits).

Paid Vacation -  Employees are eligible for 1 to 4 weeks of paid vacation depending on years of service.

Sick Time -  Each employee is given 3 days a year of paid sick time. Unused sick time is accumulated to provide full pay for extended absences due to health problems.

Holidays -  ABCO Automation, Inc. currently provides 9 paid holidays each year.

Field Pay -  A field pay supplement is available to salaried employees at an equivalent hourly rate for work performed at customer locations requiring unusually long days or weekends.

Educational Assistance -  This program provides assistance in funding formal work-related educational schooling for employees.

Fitness Club Allowance -  This program provides each employee an income supplement each month towards the cost of membership at a fitness club.

Flexible Spending Account -  This program allows a portion of an employee’s salary to be redirected to provide reimbursement for un-reimbursed medical and dependent care.  The portion deducted is not subject to payroll taxes, resulting in a substantial payroll tax savings for the employee.
