Packaging Line Relocation - Pharmaceutical Manufacturer
PROBLEM: A packaging line needed to be relocated and rearranged into a more
efficient layout. New pieces of equipment would also be added to the line. The
line would be relocated in two phases, and the customer needed the second phase
to occur without any downtime.
SOLUTION: ABCO personnel assisted in many different aspects of the project. ABCO
provided engineering to improve the line layout and add the additional
equipment. ABCO also provided the systems integration for the line. ABCO
personnel performed all millwright and electrical services for the project.
ABCO moved the packaging line approximately 300 feet from one bay to another.
Several large pieces of equipment were included in this move. In the new bay the
line was arranged to improve its efficiency and new equipment was added.
ABCO designed the electrical distribution system and procured the electrical
components to wire the system. ABCO provided a new control panel and performed
the electrical installation. Wiring was run from the panel through a wireway
located above the line. Conduit was then run from the wireway to use points on
the line.
Three weeks were scheduled for the move, but ABCO completed the move in two
weeks. The installation of the line was performed in a two-phase process. In the
first phase, the main line components were moved, rearranged into the new layout
and started up. The second installation phase included the installation of a new
piece of equipment. This installation involved modifications to the existing
line conveyor. Over a weekend, ABCO installed a by-pass system for this conveyor
so that the line could continue to operate without downtime. ABCO provided
startup assistance for both installation phases and assisted the customer with
line improvements after startup.
