High Speed Bag-in-Box Filler - Manufacturer of Cleaning Supples

APPLICATION: The ABCO HS-1000 High Speed Bag-In-Box Filler can be used to fill various liquids in the beverage and cleaning products industries. In this application the HS-1000 was used to fill liquid cleaning chemicals into bags. This filler was installed as part of a packaging line. The packaging line included a case erector, box conveyor, box sealer, labeler, box coder, and palletizing area.

DESIGN: The HS-1000 can fill ten five-gallon bags per minute. The filler is also accurate since it has a self-correcting algorithm that ensures fill accuracy to within 0.30% of target weight. The filler is reliable and has few moving parts to minimize downtime. It is ruggedly constructed of stainless steel and can be used in sanitary environments. The filler is versatile and product changeover is quick and simple. Changeover time is minimized since the filler is easily CIPed and the various products can be stored in the PanelView for easy selection.

The fill valves are custom designed for high flow rate, fast actuation, and accurate fill weights. The fill valves are particularly reliable and easy to service. Air tables are used to consistently handle bags. These tables have no moving parts and will not get gummed up like rollers.

The design for the fillers includes servo-driven bag handling, magnetic flow metering for increased accuracy, quick product and bag size changeover, and a vacuum system that ensures a virtually drip-free fill valve.

The filler includes its own product surge tank, pump, and filtering system. These components are mounted on top of the filler frame to minimize the footprint required for the machine.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION: The filler takes a bag out of a web with serrations between each bag. The filler separates the bags with a pneumatically controlled knife. The filler then moves the bag into a fill clamp (which is a pneumatic gripper).

The filler removes the cap on the bag with a cap gripper and fill valve that rides on a servo axis. The lower gripper moves the cap and lowers the fill valve into the bag spout. The filler fills the bag to within +/- 0.30% by weight. A vacuum and waste product containment system is included. A vacuum is pulled through the center of the fill valve stem when not filling. This vacuum prevents any product from dripping on the bag.

After filling, the bag is released onto one of ABCO's patented air tables where it is held until it can be loaded into a box. The air table lowers and the bag travels freely through a chute that has been lowered into the box.
